Shurflo 2088-343-135 12V Automatic-Demand Pump, 3.0 GPM

The Shurflo 2088 Series is a go-to 12-volt diaphragm pump for spot sprayers, skid sprayers and UTV rigs used by pest and weed professionals. The 2088-343-135 is an automatic-demand model. A built-in pressure switch turns the pump on when you open the spray valve and shuts it off at 45 PSI when you close it, so there's no separate on/off switching while you work. It's self-priming up to 12 vertical feet, can run dry without damage, and has a built-in check valve to keep liquid from flowing back into the tank.

Installation Tips from Shurflo

• Plumbing: Use flexible 3/8" or 1/2" ID tubing, at least 18" long, to reduce stress on the ports and noise. Shurflo doesn't recommend metal fittings or rigid pipe.
• Fittings: The 1/2" male ports are designed for Shurflo swivel barb fittings, which seal hand-tight. Standard 1/2" NPT fittings can be used, tightened to no more than 45 in-lbs. Go light on sealer and Teflon tape, since it can crack housings or get into the valves.
• Strainer: Install a 50-mesh strainer on the inlet to keep debris out of the pump.
• Mounting: Mount in any position, but if vertical, keep the pump head down so a leak can't reach the motor. Don't over-compress the rubber feet, which isolate vibration.
• Electrical: Use a dedicated circuit with the fuse or breaker rating on the motor label.

Frequently Asked Questions

My pump turns on and off rapidly while spraying. What's wrong?
That's called rapid cycling, and it happens when the flow is very low or the plumbing is restrictive, so the pump repressurizes faster than liquid leaves. Shurflo recommends reducing outlet restrictions or adding an accumulator. Frequent rapid cycling can damage the pump.

The pump won't shut off when I close the valve.
Check for leaks or air trapped in the outlet line, debris or swelling in the valves, loose pump head screws, and correct voltage at the pump. If the valves are worn, the 94-232-05 valve assembly is the fix. The pressure switch (94-230-36) may also need replacing.

The motor runs but nothing comes out.
Check the tank level, the inlet strainer, kinked or leaking inlet tubing, and debris in the pump valves. Also check for a cracked housing. The 94-231-30 upper housing replaces a cracked one.

Liquid is leaking from the bottom of the pump.
Shurflo says fluid at the bottom drain points to a punctured diaphragm. Replace it with the 94-238-03 drive/diaphragm assembly.

Can I pump any chemical?
Don't assume compatibility. Match your chemicals to the pump's materials, and never pump flammable liquids or run the pump in an explosive environment.
