The genuine Shurflo upper housing for select 2088 Series diaphragm pumps. It holds the inlet and outlet ports and the pump's valves. Replace it when the housing is cracked, the port threads are damaged, or it leaks. Cracked housings often come from water freezing inside the pump, or from overtightening fittings.
Check your model. The 2088-343-170 and 2088-343-500 use a different upper housing (94-231-40). Match your pump's model number to the list below.

How do I keep it from cracking again?
Drain the pump or run antifreeze through it before freezing weather. Don't overtighten fittings. Shurflo recommends no more than 45 in-lbs on standard 1/2" NPT fittings, and warns that excess sealer or Teflon tape can act as a lubricant and crack the housing.
Should I replace the valves at the same time?
It's a good time to. The 94-232-05 valve assembly fits every 2088 model in Shurflo's chart.
