Protek Tool Interrupter (Discontinued)

Protek Tool Interrupters Have Been Discontinued

The Protek II and Protek SRS drill interrupters are no longer available. The manufacturer, Lorien, has ceased operations, and these units are no longer being made.

What the Protek Did

The Protek drill interrupter plugged in between a drill and the power source and cut power to the drill within milliseconds if the bit contacted grounded metal. For termite professionals drilling through slabs and foundations, it helped prevent drilling into grounded copper water lines, electrical conduit, post-tension cables, and rebar. It also had a built-in ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for operator safety.

QSpray sold two models:

  • Protek II Drill Interrupter: a portable unit built for termite control work, with a built-in GFCI, for use with 3-prong grounded drills.
  • Protek SRS Drill Interrupter: a heavy-duty, weather-resistant model rated at 15 amps, 110–120V AC, also used in construction and industrial settings.

Is There a Replacement?

At this time, we don't know of an equivalent product on the market. If a comparable drill interrupter becomes available, we plan to carry it and will update this page.
