The genuine Coxreels 7425 pinion gear for 1125-4 Series electric rewind hose reels. The pinion mounts on the reel motor's shaft and drives the reel's larger gear to rewind the hose. Over time the teeth wear or strip, especially on reels that rewind long, heavy hose every day. A worn pinion causes slipping, grinding or a motor that runs without turning the reel. It includes 2 set screws to lock it to the motor shaft.

How do I know the pinion is worn?
Common signs are a grinding or clicking noise during rewind, a reel that slips or stalls under load, or a motor that runs but doesn't turn the reel. Look at the teeth. Rounded, chipped or missing teeth mean it's time to replace it.
The motor runs but the reel won't turn. Is it the pinion?
Often it is. Before you replace it, check that the set screws are tight. A loose set screw lets the pinion spin on the motor shaft without driving the reel. If the screws are tight and the teeth are worn, replace the pinion.
Should I replace anything else at the same time?
Check the reel's mating gear for wear too, since a worn pinion can damage it. Apply thread-locking compound to the set screws so they don't back out from vibration.
