1/3 HP 12V DC Hose Reel Motor

A replacement 1/3 HP, 12-volt DC electric rewind motor for hose reels. It's a direct replacement for the Cox 15228-1 motor used on Coxreels 1125 Series electric reels and the Hannay 9915.0042 used on most Hannay 1500 and 2000 series electric reels. It comes with pre-wired 12V DC lead wires, so swapping out a worn or failed motor is straightforward. A failed motor doesn't mean replacing the whole reel. This gets your existing reel back in service.

Which Reel Motor Do I Need?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as the Cox 15223-1?
No. The Cox 15223-1 is the 1/2 HP motor. This is the 1/3 HP motor that replaces the Cox 15228-1. If your reel carries 3/4" or 1" hose, or a long hose, see the 1/2 HP reel motor.

How do I know the motor is bad?
If the reel won't rewind when you press the button, check the cheaper parts first: the fuse or breaker, the push button switch, the solenoid and the wiring connections. If all of those test good and the motor still won't run, or it runs weakly or gets hot, it's time to replace the motor.

Do I need anything else to install it?
Reuse your existing sprocket, mounting hardware, push button and solenoid if they're in good shape. The pre-wired leads connect to your existing reel wiring.
