That's an important safety feature on truck-mounted spray rigs, where a loose hose can unspool on the road, get dragged, or snag. If your lock pin is missing, bent or won't engage, replace it before your next trip.

Why does my reel need a lock?
Road vibration and bumps can slowly turn a hand crank reel and unwind the hose while you drive. A dragging hose can be damaged, snag on other vehicles, or come loose entirely. Engaging the lock pin before you drive keeps the hose secure.
Will it fit my reel?

What else should I check on an older reel?
While you're at it, check the bearings for roughness or play and the axle threads for wear. Those are the other common wear parts on 1125 Series reels.
