The genuine B&G safety lock nut for Extenda-Ban valves. It screws into the back of the valve body, behind the trigger and adjustment screw, and is held in place by the snap ring. It has to come out any time you replace the trigger or service the valve cable, and it's a small part that's easy to lose or damage during a field repair.
| Part Number | B&G SL-162 (22046700) |
| Location | Back of the valve body (item #30 on the Extenda-Ban valve) |
| Fits | B&G Extenda-Ban valves on B&G hand sprayers |
When do I need to remove it?
When replacing the trigger, the adjustment screw or the valve cable. B&G's disassembly order is the trigger, snap ring, safety lock nut, adjustment screw, lock nut, then packing nut. Reassemble in reverse, screwing the safety lock nut back into the valve body and then reattaching the snap ring.
Any tips for field repairs?
Keep the small parts (safety lock nut, snap ring and trigger screw) in a closed container while you work. B&G notes that small valve parts are easily misplaced.
