The genuine B&G white packing washers that seal the valve cable where it passes through the Extenda-Ban valve body. When they wear, liquid seeps out around the packing nut and the valve handle gets wet. That's a common B&G problem, and an easy, inexpensive fix.
| Part Number | B&G VP-151 (22045099) |
| Location | On the valve cable, behind the packing nut (item #26 on the Extenda-Ban valve) |
| Fits | B&G Extenda-Ban valves |
| Valve Built | Packing Nut | Washers |
| Before 1999 | Stainless steel, 3/8" wrench, no O-ring | 3 |
| 1999–2000 | Brass with O-ring, 7/16" wrench | 2 |
| After 2000 | Stainless steel with O-ring, 3/8" wrench | 3 |
The easy way to tell: a brass packing nut takes 2 washers, and a stainless steel nut takes 3.
My valve handle is wet. What do I do?
B&G's fix is to tighten the packing nut first. If it still leaks, replace the packing washers. Remove the old washers from inside the valve, slide the new ones onto the cable, then slide the packing nut on behind them and tighten.
Is it in a repair kit?
Yes. The GD-124 repair kit includes 3 packing washers, enough for any Extenda-Ban valve, along with the valve's other wear parts.
