Product Description

Actisol 8010013 Monel Mesh Screen, 50 Mesh

The genuine Actisol 50-mesh Monel screen for Actisol wands. It sits in the strainer housing at the base of the wand's valve body and filters the insecticide on its way to the nozzle, catching debris before it can clog the tip. Actisol notes this screen needs occasional cleaning or replacement. A clogged screen starves the nozzle of liquid, and a torn one lets debris through. Monel is a corrosion-resistant nickel alloy that holds up to pest control chemicals.

How to Clean or Replace the Screen

From Actisol's cleaning instructions:

  1. Find the brass compression fitting where the plastic hose attaches to the base of the wand's stainless steel air line.
  2. Using two adjustable wrenches, separate the brass compression fitting from the stainless air line, letting the air-line side of the hose hang free. This lets you remove the strainer housing without twisting or knotting the hose.
  3. Remove the strainer housing from the valve body to expose the screen.
  4. Remove the screen and rinse the debris off with clean water, or install a new screen.
  5. Reassemble in reverse order. Attach the strainer housing to the valve body first, so the hose doesn't twist or knot.
  6. Tighten the brass fitting and strainer housing hand-tight plus 1/4 turn with a wrench. Overtightening can strip the threads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as the tank filter?
No. The 300064 drop-in tank filter strains insecticide as you pour it into the tank. This screen filters liquid at the wand, just before the nozzle. Keeping both clean protects the nozzle.

My unit makes air but no aerosol. Is it the screen?
A clogged screen is one possible cause. Actisol's troubleshooting also lists kinked tubing, low pressure on the gauge, and a closed-up tip orifice or debris in the fluid cap. See the operating manual below for the full checklist.

What should I avoid spraying?
Use only insecticides labeled for aerosol, fog or mist application. Actisol warns that chemicals like Vapona (DDVP) can damage the hose and wand tubing.
