Pressing the rewind button sends a small current to the solenoid, which then carries the motor's high current. That protects the push-button switch and delivers full power to the motor. This weather proof version is sealed against rain, spray and washdown, making it the better choice for reels mounted on open truck beds, trailers and anywhere else that gets wet.

How do I know my solenoid is bad?
Common signs: you hear a click when you press the rewind button but the motor doesn't run, nothing happens at all even though the battery and fuse are good, or the motor runs intermittently. A solenoid stuck closed can make the motor keep running after you release the button. Disconnect power right away if that happens.
Should I check anything else first?
Yes. Check the battery charge, the fuse or circuit breaker, and all wiring connections for corrosion before replacing parts. If the solenoid clicks and has power on both large terminals but the motor still won't run, the problem may be the motor.
Why weather proof?
Moisture and corrosion are the most common causes of solenoid failure on truck-mounted reels. A sealed solenoid holds up much longer when it's exposed to rain, spray drift and washdowns.
