Each reel uses two. Price is for one assembly, and there's one on each side of the reel. If one bearing is worn, the other usually is too, so most customers replace both at once.
A genuine Coxreels bearing assembly with pillow block mounting for Cox 1125-4 Series hand crank hose reels with 1/2" plumbing, the workhorse reel on pest, weed and landscape rigs. The two bearings support the plumbing axle (Cox 7408) that runs through the center of the reel and keep it turning smoothly under the weight of a full hose.

How do I know my bearings are worn?
Common signs are a reel that wobbles or squeals as it turns, a crank that feels gritty or stiff, or an axle that shifts side to side. Rough roads and constant truck vibration wear them faster.
Should I replace both sides?
Yes, in most cases. Both bearings see the same load and miles, so if one has failed, the other isn't far behind. Replacing both at once saves a second teardown.
What else should I check while the reel is apart?
Check the threads on the ends of the 7408 axle. Worn bearings often come with a worn axle.
