The genuine Birchmeier filter screen that sits in the tank opening, under the lid, on Flox, Iris and current Senior backpack sprayers. It strains out debris, undissolved product and grit as you fill the tank, so they don't end up clogging the pump valves, trigger filter or nozzle. Replace it if the mesh is torn, the rim is cracked, or it's missing. Spraying without it is the fastest way to a clogged nozzle in the field.
| Part Number | Birchmeier 770-096-99 (77009699) |
| Location | Tank opening, under the lid (item #3 on the parts breakdown) |
| Fits | Birchmeier Flox, Iris and current Senior backpacks with the 137 mm lid |
Have an older Senior? Older Senior backpacks use a larger 169 mm lid (about 6-5/8" across) and a different filter screen (Birchmeier 104-892-01). If your lid measures about 5-3/8" across, this is the right filter.
How do I keep it working?
Rinse the screen after each use, especially after mixing wettable powders or granular products, which can clog the mesh. Never force product through a clogged screen.
Should I replace anything else at the lid?
Check the lid gasket and flutter valve while you're there. If the lid itself is worn, the complete Birchmeier lid (103-972-02) includes a new gasket and flutter valve.
The best way to ensure the longevity of your Birchmeier backpack is to clean the two filters every day. Andrew Greess describes how in this video. For more information, check out www.qspray.com. Birchmeier Backpacks: http://bit.ly/2qg5PLV
