The genuine B&G nylon gasket for the inlet end of the Extenda-Ban valve, where the strainer housing and hose connect to the valve body. It seals that connection so liquid doesn't seep out at the back of the valve when the tank is pressurized. Replace it whenever you service the mesh strainer, or if you see leaks at the valve inlet.

When should I replace it?
Replace it if you see liquid at the back of the valve where the hose and strainer housing connect, or any time you take that connection apart. B&G recommends cleaning the mesh strainer at the hose/valve connection regularly, which is a good time to check this gasket.
