SurgeBuster Tank Baffles
Liquid surge is the slosh that shoves your truck or trailer forward when you stop and pushes it sideways in a turn. On a spray rig, nurse tank or water trailer that's partly full, surge makes the vehicle harder to control and puts extra stress on brakes, hitches and tank mounts. SurgeBuster tank baffles sit inside the tank and break up the moving liquid so the load stays settled. The manufacturer, Liquid Surge Control, reports that SurgeBusters dissipate up to 96% of surge energy.
How SurgeBusters Work
Each SurgeBuster snaps together from three paddles, two connecting pins and a center disc. There are no moving parts and no tools needed. Instead of bouncing liquid back the way it came like a flat baffle, the paddles create swirls and eddies that absorb the energy of the surge from front to back and side to side. They're made of polyethylene, work in hot or cold loads, and can be used in poly, aluminum, stainless steel and fiberglass tanks. They displace less than 1% of your payload.
Choose Your Size
Pick the size by your tank's opening (lid or manway):
- 4" SurgeBuster: for small tank openings, about 4" to 6"
- 7" SurgeBuster: for openings of about 7" to 14", including the 8" and 10" lids on most spray rig tanks
- 15" SurgeBuster: for openings of 15" and larger, including 16" manways
How Many Do You Need?
For water and liquids of similar weight, plan on roughly one SurgeBuster for every 30 gallons of tank capacity. For example, a 300-gallon tank needs about 10 to 11, and a 1,000-gallon tank needs about 32 to 36. Heavier liquids like fertilizer or brine need more. If you're mixing chemicals or hauling anything heavier than water, call us and we'll help you figure the right count. SurgeBusters are sold in packs of 10 and 25.
