Product Description

Maruyama MG10 Hand-Crank Granular Spreader

A professional-grade hand-crank belly spreader from Maruyama, made in Japan. The 3-gallon hopper holds enough for a full perimeter or yard, and the whole unit weighs only 3.7 lbs empty. Turn the crank and the ribbed spinner disc broadcasts granules up to about 10 feet. The tapered tank feeds product evenly, and the direction control lever lets you steer the spread away from walks, driveways and flower beds. The neck strap is adjustable for comfortable belly carry. We've tested less expensive spreaders, and the MG10 is the one we recommend for daily professional use.

What techs use it for:

  • Granular insecticides: perimeter and lawn treatments for ants, crickets, fleas and other surface pests.
  • Rain-out days: apply granular product when it's too wet to spray liquids.
  • Fire ant and ant bait: broadcast or spot-treat mounds quickly.
  • Landscape work: spread fertilizer, seed and granular herbicides on lawns and beds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I spread with it?
Dry granular products, including insecticides, baits, fertilizer, herbicides, grass seed and even ice melt. Always follow the product label for application rates.

Can I keep granules off the sidewalk?
Yes. The direction control lever lets you aim the spread to one side, so you can treat right up to a walkway or bed edge without throwing product where it doesn't belong.

MG10 or Birchmeier Granomax?
The MG10 is a hand-crank broadcast spreader. It covers ground fast, with about a 10-foot radius, which makes it ideal for lawns and open perimeters. The Birchmeier Granomax is a trigger-controlled shoulder spreader for precise spot placement around shrubs, rock beds and tight landscape areas. Many techs carry both.

How do I keep it working?
Empty the hopper at the end of the day, and rinse and dry the spreader regularly. Granular products, especially fertilizers, can absorb moisture and cake inside.
