FlowZone Typhoon 3 vs. Cyclone 3: Which Electric Backpack Sprayer Should I Get?

FlowZone Typhoon 3 vs. Cyclone 3: Which Electric Backpack Sprayer Should I Get?

Posted by Andrew Greess on Jun 7, 2022

It's one of the most common questions we get, and it's a fair one: the FlowZone Typhoon 3 and FlowZone Cyclone 3 share the same build quality and much of the same hardware. The difference comes down to output, and that depends on the work you do.

Short answer: For pest control (structural, crack and crevice, and general perimeter work), get the Cyclone 3. It puts out less pressure and less liquid, which means more control, less drift, and a lower price. For landscape work (trees, shrubs, and larger areas), get the Typhoon 3. Its higher pressure and output deliver more reach and coverage.

Choose the Cyclone 3 for Pest Control

The Cyclone 3 is built on the same frame and hardware as the Typhoon, with the same quality, but its pump puts out less pressure and nearly 50% less liquid. For structural pest control, crack and crevice treatments, and general perimeter work, that's an advantage. You get more control over where product goes, less drift and runoff, and less chemical used per job. Its five pressure settings let you dial in the right output for each application, and it costs less than the Typhoon.

Choose the Typhoon 3 for Landscape Work

The Typhoon 3's higher pressure, up to 115 PSI, and higher output push spray into tree canopies, under eaves, and through dense shrubs, and cover larger areas faster. Its larger 5.2Ah battery supports that higher output through a full day. If you're doing landscape, ornamental, or tree work, or you need reach, the Typhoon is the better tool.
