On a hand-pump backpack, spray pressure rises and falls as you pump, so your output changes from one stroke to the next. The Birchmeier PR3 fixes that. It screws in between the hose and the spray trigger and holds a constant pressure at the nozzle, adjustable from 1 to 3 bar (14 to 43 PSI). You get consistent application rates, an even spray pattern and less pumping effort. Lower settings also help reduce drift when spraying herbicides.

Why use a pressure regulator on a backpack?
Without one, pressure is highest right after you pump and drops as you spray, so output varies. The PR3 evens it out, which matters when you're following label rates or spot-spraying herbicides near desirable plants.
Adjustable PR3 or fixed CF valve?
Birchmeier also makes fixed-pressure constant flow (CF) valves set at 1.0, 1.45 or 2.0 bar. The PR3 lets you change the pressure for different jobs, so one valve covers it all. Call us at 602-371-1993 if you'd like a fixed valve.
Is it hard to install?
No. Unscrew the trigger from the hose, screw the PR3 in between them, and set your pressure. The video below shows it on a Birchmeier backpack.
Regulate the pressure on your manual Birchmeier backpack sprayer by adding the PR 3.
