The Hansen Quick Disconnect Nipple with Male Pipe Threads (MPT) is a brass quick-connect fitting designed for use with a compatible Hansen quick disconnect coupler. This nipple features male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads for installation into a compatible female-threaded fitting. It is an unvalved, free-flow design, meaning the nipple does not contain an internal shutoff valve.

IMPORTANT SIZE INFORMATION: The size you select refers to the male NPT thread size, NOT the outside diameter or physical size of the quick-disconnect nipple. Select the size that matches the threaded connection on your equipment.

How to Choose the Correct Quick Disconnect Nipple

There are two separate connections to consider when selecting a replacement nipple:

1. Pipe Thread Size: Determine the female NPT thread size on the fitting or equipment where the nipple will be installed. Choose the matching MPT option.
2. Quick Disconnect Compatibility: Confirm that the nipple's quick-connect profile and size match the Hansen coupler you intend to use.

Do not select a nipple based only on its pipe thread size. Two fittings may have the same NPT thread size but use different quick-disconnect connection sizes or profiles.

If you're replacing an existing nipple, compare its markings and connection dimensions with the replacement part. If you're building a new assembly, select the nipple and mating coupler as a compatible pair.

Unvalved vs. Valved Quick Disconnects

This Hansen nipple is unvalved, so it does not automatically stop liquid flow when disconnected. Before disconnecting a spray hose or fluid line, shut off the supply and relieve system pressure as appropriate.

Whether a complete quick-disconnect assembly shuts off flow depends on the design of the mating coupler. Always verify the complete coupling configuration for your application.

Installation & Maintenance

Use a compatible female NPT fitting and follow the equipment manufacturer's recommendations for thread sealing and tightening. Avoid overtightening or damaging the brass threads.

Before connecting or disconnecting the fitting, shut off the liquid supply and relieve system pressure. Inspect the nipple and mating coupler for damage, debris, and worn sealing components that could interfere with a secure connection.
