Product Description

Diaphragm Maintenance & Replacement

Pump diaphragms are wear components that flex continuously during operation. Over time, they can deteriorate, crack, or rupture, affecting pump performance and potentially allowing spray liquid to contaminate the crankcase oil.

Common signs that your diaphragms may need replacement include:

  • Milky or Cloudy Pump Oil: May indicate spray liquid has entered the crankcase through a damaged diaphragm.
  • Reduced Pump Performance: Lower-than-normal flow or difficulty maintaining operating pressure.
  • Visible Diaphragm Damage: Cracks, tears, or deterioration discovered during inspection.
  • Oil Contamination: Evidence that spray liquid and pump oil have mixed.

Maintenance Recommendations:

  • Replace both main pump diaphragms together to avoid leaving an equally worn diaphragm in service.
  • Inspect the pulsation dampener diaphragm and replace it as needed.
  • Check pump oil for contamination and replace it according to the manufacturer's service instructions.
  • Inspect valves, O-rings, and sealing surfaces for wear or damage during disassembly.
  • Follow the manufacturer's recommended assembly procedures and fastener torque specifications.

Important: If your pump oil appears milky or contaminated, stop operating the pump and inspect the diaphragms promptly. Continued operation with a ruptured diaphragm can cause additional internal pump damage.

Before beginning repairs, shut off the equipment, disconnect the power source, and relieve all system pressure.
