Pest Control Equipment - Don't Wait for Problems

Our pest control equipment repair shop sees all sort of problems, every day.

The pest equipment issues that really surprise me are the ones that are totally avoidable. So many big problems can be avoided if the problem was dealt with when it was small.

Check out this short spray equipment tips video and stay tuned for our next pest control equipment tips video.

Andrew Greess: Hi, this is Andrew Greess. This is the next in a series of videos about your spray equipment.

Today, I'm going to talk about your pest control equipment. The point I want to make is, don't wait for problems. If you think you have a problem coming or the start of a problem, you want to deal with it promptly because problems just get worse.

I've got a good example of that, and here it is. This is a truck‑mounted mosquito fogger. Now, I know most of you watching do not own a truck‑mounted mosquito fogger, but that's not really the point of this story.

The point of the story is, the tech brought this into us a while back and one of these plastic or nylon fittings broke. We took one look at this piece of equipment.

We told the technician, "Hey, all these pieces are made out of the same exact material. They all have the same number of hours of use on them. They've all been in the same hot, hot Arizona summer sun for the same number of hours. They've all had the same chemical pumping through them. If this one broke, that means they're all going to break. Let us fix them all and be done with it."

The guy said "No, no, no, I'm too busy. I can't. Just fix it." We replaced one fitting and he left. Two days later he came back and said, "You're right, another one broke."

We told him the same thing. "Hey, let us fix it. You're just going to have the same problem." He says, "No, I'm too busy, I can't do it. I got to get back to fogging for mosquitoes. We fixed the next fitting and he left.

A few days after that, we got a phone call. He says, "You were right. Another one broke. When can I bring it in?" He made an appointment. We replaced all the fittings and everything that needed to be replaced.

The point is, when you have a problem, don't lean into it. When someone's throwing a punch at you, don't lean into it. Solve them. This guy clearly was going to have a problem with these fittings. Instead of solving it, he just delayed it and it ended up costing him even more.

He had to come to see us three times instead of one time. He had to drive across town three times and waste time doing that, as opposed to doing his job of fogging for mosquitoes.

When you see a problem like this or you think you're going to have a problem, then at least talk to your boss or talk to your partner or talk to your equipment guy, and see if you do have a problem. If you do have one, solve it. It'll save you a ton of time and a ton of money.

Thanks for watching. Again, this is Andrew of qspray.com. I hope you will think of us when you need power spray equipment for your pest and landscape business or hand sprayers, backpacks, B&Gs, that sort of thing. Thanks so much for watching. Have a great day.
