If you are fascinated by insects, and enjoy great insect photography, you have to check out this site.

Levon Biss is an amazing English photographer who has taken up the art of microscopic photos of insects.  The process he goes through to photograph an insect is incredible.

Because of his skill and dedication, he has been granted access to the Oxford Museum of Natural History entomology collection.  This collection is amazing and includes many of the original samples taken by Charles Darwin during his research on natural selection.

He works with the Museum's lead entomologist to select the correct sample.  99% of samples are rejected.

He photographs the insects under a high magnification microscope.  He takes thousands of photographs of each tiny area of the insect.  Each photograph requires refocus and relighting.  He then uses a computer to assemble the thousands of photographs into the final image.

It takes 2 weeks from the time he starts until he completes one photograph like the Tiger Beetle photograph shown here.

Here is the link to  Levon Biss' website.  I hope you will check it out.  Please be sure to watch the video which describes his motivation and process and is very interesting.
